Enrolment is free, and it always will be — we are paid by the research sites, never by you. How that works

Open studies

Six areas, and what a study in each really asks

This is the shape of what recruits, not a list of trials. Which specific studies are open changes from week to week, and a page that pretended otherwise would be wrong within days.

Cardiology

Heart failure, blood pressure that has not settled on treatment, lipid disorders and the rhythm conditions that travel with them.

Visit schedule

Monthly, across a year or more. The taller marks are the ones with bloods.

Metabolic

Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and the combinations that arrive together with cardiology.

Screening bandBelowEligibleAbove

Narrow at both ends — people are ruled out in either direction.

Respiratory

Asthma, COPD, chronic cough, and the breathlessness that has been looked into more than once without landing on a cause.

When it recruitsJFMAMJJASOND

Several only open between autumn and spring.

Dermatology

Eczema, psoriasis, chronic urticaria and other long-running skin conditions.

Every visit

Photographed each time, and scored at the first one.

Healthy volunteers

Nothing diagnosed, which is the requirement rather than the absence of one. Early-phase work needs well people and needs a great many of them.

What the commitment looks likespread over monthsone block

Several days in one block, rather than visits spread across months.

See what it asks for

Neurology

Migraine, epilepsy and movement disorders, and some studies of long-term nerve pain.

Before anyone decides

Several weeks of daily entries, logged before anyone decides anything.

Being realistic

Most people do not match the first thing they read

Narrow is the point

A trial that let everyone in could not tell whether its treatment worked. Being turned down is not a judgement about you or about how unwell you are.

Distance decides a lot

Most studies run at a fixed set of sites and need you there repeatedly, sometimes for a year. A study can fit perfectly and still be three hours away.

Listed is not open

Every area here has stretches with nothing recruiting. When that is the case the check says so rather than taking your details and leaving you waiting.

If your condition is not one of these six, the check cannot help you. We would rather say that plainly than collect details for a list with nothing to match them against. If you want to know whether an area might open later, ask us and we will tell you what we actually know.
